Buying airline tickets has become a fact of life and there is no getting around it, but what makes it such a minefield is that there is so much choice, and very few deals to be found. So how do you go about finding the best deals and are those amazing deals really out there?
Although we have all been led to believe that the brokers have the best deals, this is not always the case. All too often you can find much better deals directly from the airlines themselves and tend to have a better chance of an upgrade if you book directly.
The earlier you book, the better the price, but if you have the freedom to do very last minute bookings, then take the chance, just don´t expect to always clinch a deal. The best time to book is around three to three and half months before your departure date. Prior to that and you really are not doing yourself any favours. Fourteen days prior to the date of the flight the price of most available tickets will increase, so don´t wait until two weeks before if you can help it.
Late night flights and early morning flights can also be very cost effective, but keep in mind that hotels work along the same rules, so if you happen to land very late or early in the morning, you may have to wait, bleary eyed for your room to be available which could be anytime in the early afternoon. You also have to pay for a hotel room that you probably won´t be sleeping in if you have to leave very late at night.
Finally, don´t always think of your destination as the only place to spend some time. Breaking your trip up can save you a lot of money and sometimes a couple hours invested in a detour could save you thousands and take you to places you have never been before.

You can’t deny that airfares of many airline companies today are horribly expensive, especially if it’s the peak season for international travel and domestic flights . Even cheap international flights can get too pricey if you don’t get them at the right time. We are going to show you how to get the very best deal, no matter what type of flight you are looking for. Here are some greeat ideas on how to do just that.
Online Discounts…
Most airline companies on the Internet offer low airfare rates, and is quite convenient since they can easily book the flights they want in the convenience of their own home or at the office.
Use the search engines and also find comparison sites, but don’t always think that this is your only option. You can go for travel-related companies affiliated with known airlines and have them book your flights for you. One advantage to using these services is the ability to help you which days offer lower rates in terms of departure and arrival time, or on specific dates.
You might also want to check out on other possible deals that will help minimize your travel costs with other benefits — such as travel or vacation packages that includes hotel accommodations, transportation costs, and of course, your airfare.
Ask an Agent…
Travel agents are handy to have around if you need to have your flight booked according to your specifications without doing any of it yourself. Biggest advantage – getting it all done quickly. Give them all the details and wait for them to get the best deal.
Fly at Weird Hours…
Off peak flights are usually great value. Just be prepared to have to be there when you would prefer to be asleep. Cheaper airlines usually have great prices for the late night flights and if you don’t have to worry about excess lugggage, then you could be jetting off for next to nothing.
